Role Overview
We are seeking a Multi-Skills Construction Tutor to support our Post-16 provision in Manchester.
This is a new and developing provision, offering an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to play a key role in shaping the construction curriculum from the outset. You will have real input into how programmes are designed, delivered, and developed to meet the needs of our learners.
This role would suit a dynamic, practical, and forward-thinking professional with experience in construction and a passion for supporting young people as they prepare for employment, training, or further education.
You will be highly self-motivated, confident working autonomously, and committed to delivering engaging, high-quality learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver a construction multi-skills curriculum for Post-16 learners
- Shape and evolve the programme as the provision grows
- Plan and assess learning in line with learner needs and progression pathways
- Monitor learner progress, achievement, attendance, and behaviour
- Create and maintain a safe, well-organised learning environment
- Manage tools, equipment, and materials in line with Health & Safety standards
- Act as a personal tutor, supporting learners’ academic, social, and emotional development
- Set targets and provide clear, constructive feedback
- Build links with local employers and organisations to enhance learner outcomes
- Complete all required documentation and learner records
- Engage in continuous professional development and mandatory training
- Uphold EdStart policies, including Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity, and Health & Safety
Qualifications & Experience
- AET / Cert Ed / PGCE / PTTLS or relevant teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards)
- Minimum Level 2 qualification in a relevant vocational area or significant occupational experience
- English and Maths at Level 2 or above
- Verifiable occupational experience within construction or related trades
- Experience working with Post-16 learners, SEN, SEMH, or alternative provision (desirable)
